	About the artist "CW Tracey" Where I was Born I was born in 1940 at the beginning of WWII in South Wales of a mining family. Where I began At 15 years old I won a Bursary (Award) to study floral painting for 5 years for use in the production of wallpapers and textiles with the company then of Sanderson & Son, the then leading company in wallpapers and textiles. The process of painting for fabrics is different from the normal painting process so that it can be printed in the minimum colours required and not in the multi- coloured effects of floral painting. I spent a long time studying abroad all over Europe and the major cities. When I became a qualified Textile Designer In 1962 I became a fully qualified Textile Designer and became a freelance designer which lasted unabated for over 40 years. The style of designing I followed is that of a period that existed for many years but was in decline due to the change in textile markets so the style changed to less heavy floral work and plain colours as the printing companies closed due to heavy economic changes. On the site is a gallery of some of the types of floral work that I have done over the years. It is just a sample of the many thousands of designs I have been commissioned to do over the years for companies all over the world. When I retired I retired in late 2000 and pursued retirement activities but was drawn back to the board out of boredom and started on my portraiture which I had not done for many years so it became quite exiting to actively pursue my artwork again which I now hope to share with you.
